MANILA, Philippines - Veering away from the perennial boxy jackets and stiff silhouettes, Italian fashion brand Liu Jo unwraps its fall-winter collection 2011 with a myriad of hot styles that puts emphasis on the feminine figure, a look epitomized by its model/endorser Kate Moss.
The collection, available at its only store in the Philippines located at Ayala Center Cebu, is dominated by three distinctive themes tied together with a sophisticated choice of fabrics, details and color palette.
Romantic, feminine and fluid define the Garden Flower line. These key looks are interpreted in tops, tunics and dresses as well as in suits, vests and overcoats made of the most delicate of fabrics like tulle, chiffon, satin and crêpe de chine, among others.
Bold, active yet chic is the overall look of Cavalry Deluxe. Androgynous outfits like slim leather jackets, equestrienne-inspired trousers and wool cardigans are balanced out with soft silhouettes, feminine lines and flirty accents. Fitted shirts and tailored jackets enhance a woman’s natural asset — the waist — while the trousers are softer and tighter around the thighs.
Patchwork dresses and flowing volumes make up the Shabby Chic line. As the name implies, it inspires the wearer to mix and match outfits and play with different patterns, colors, and cuts. Its knitwear has that vintage effect without looking outdated. This is achieved through updated interpretations of geometric motifs and inserts, flower prints, two-color jacquard and embroidered details. Create an entire wardrobe from cloaks, skirts, embroidered and lingerie dresses, oversized cardigans and scarves.
For those who prefer to dress down without running the risk of looking plain, Liu Jo Jeans fall/winter collection has two themes designed around the independent woman who considers glamour and comfort in equal regard.
Liu Jo picks an unusual dark palette of black, slate, electric blue, berry and a mélange of grays for its daywear line called Dressed Up. The collection is anything but dull with studs, rhinestones, sequins, golden zips and chains cleverly applied on blazers, jackets, miniskirts and tops. Liu Jo also does animal prints well; welcomes Animalier back into its fold with this exotic pattern reinterpreted in its T-shirts, jersey dresses and stretch viscose mini pullovers. A complement to this line is Liu Jo Jeans’ two new fittings: the Flair with palazzo leg, and the flared Beat jeans. Both styles, which come in black and gray denim, look chic with shirts and tunics.
The colors of autumn are the main inspirations behind Easy Going — soft, warm and clean. The cut and style of clothes are simple, relaxed and contemporary, giving focus to comfort and movement. The coats, cardigans, capes, oversized pullovers and frocks are made of soft fabrics. T-shirts with playful prints and jewel accents like studs and rhinestones are staples of the collection, paired with miniskirts, cargo pants, slim-fit corduroys, and the signature Garçons trousers stylized with rhinestone hearts and chains for a metropolitan look.
