This sunscreen on-the-go is really cool!

Dear Rissa,

Because of my work, I’m always in and out of the office. I have to walk to the different buildings in Makati. I want to keep my skin protected from the sun, but I just find it such a hassle to apply sun block every time I have to step out of my office. I find it sticky and it makes me smell unpleasant. Is there a sunscreen I can easily apply that isn’t messy to put on?

Sheila de Guzman

Make sure to get yourself a pack of Supergoof SPF 30 Sunscreen Swipes. I got myself a pack recently (available only at Beauty Bar, P1,900). It’s perfect when you suddenly need sunscreen on-the-go. Just like makeup or baby wipes, you simply pull a sheet out of the pack and gently wipe it over your face and body. It provides you with both UVA and UVB protection and is water-, sweat-, and sand-resistant. It’s gentle enough to be used every day and is also oil-free so it will never leave a sticky residue. I read that Holly Thaggard founded the Supergoop range of products because she wanted to create safe and advanced UV products that met international sun protection standards and were also free of possible carcinogens, parabens, and toxins.

For those who want both easy-to-apply sunscreen wipes and protection from harmful chemicals, Supergoop SPF30 Sunscreen Swipes can be used by those with super sensitive skin and even newborns.

RX for a tighter body & fuller lips

Dear Lucy,

Do firming body creams really work? They cost quite a lot, but the promise is so desirable! Should I go for it?

Also, how do I make my lips fuller and more supple without resorting to any invasive procedure?

Candy

Generally, I believe that especially for those made by reputable companies, there are several ingredients in firming lotions that give a temporary tightening to the skin. As to their long-term firming benefits, that will be quite hard to speculate on. Will it tighten every ripple on the body? I doubt it will, permanently. But I am pretty sure it can make the skin look hydrated and smooth.

As for your lips, yes, please do not resort to surgery just yet. My favorite thing to do to get supple lips is by way of lip scrubs. It gently sloughs off flaky skin and because most formulas are suspended in a shea butter base, the lips do not become dry. And as a bonus, it really does make lips look fuller!

It’s a wrap!

Dear Ms. Tingting,

How do you wear a wrap dress with style?

Kris

When wearing a wrap dress, be your own stylist as the dress is a timeless piece meant to be creatively toyed with. We can be our own tailor each time we wear it. Try wearing it with boots or stilettos. Consider wearing it with jeans. You can try it with everything. If there is one dress designed with the intention of flattering the woman’s figure, it is the wrap dress. Buy it in jersey, the original fabric of the dress, as it is the best fabric for a perfect fit. Buy it in a print for a bit of flair.
