MANILA, Philippines - Nothing beats the work of two creative minds working together to create something new.
The team-up of a clever architect and an inventive engineer results in a state-of-the-art building; a collaboration of an expressive songwriter and a gifted singer creates a hit pop song; and when one of New York’s most celebrated designers works with the world’s favorite flip-flops brand, they come up with an innovative yet fashionable slippers.
These surprised the crowd at the recent New York Fashion Week when Michael Bastian and Havaianas unveiled their shared passion for casual luxury with the newest Michael Bastian + Havaianas Collection.
“I’ve always been a big admirer of Havaianas,” said Michael Bastian. ‘’They’ve become a global brand by focusing on one thing, but doing it simply and perfectly. It’s a real honor and incredibly fun to have this chance to work together.”
Part of Bastian’s Spring 2011 Men’s Collection, this new limited edition of stylish flip-flops fuses the comfort and style for which Havaianas is known with the classic and modern American aesthetic of Michael Bastian.
Featuring four styles inspired by two distinct motifs, the Michael Bastian + Havaianas Collection highlights deep-sea exploration and an exclusive leopard/camouflage pattern. The scuba influence is showcased in two sandals featuring the colors neon orange and yellow with diver graphics, while the leopard camouflage is printed on the foot bed in two color ways—military olive and slate gray.
“Havaianas became a fashion brand by constantly introducing new interpretations of our core sandals,” said Afonso Sugiyama, president of Havaianas USA. “Michael Bastian has a unique talent to infuse fresh perspectives into our classic sandal design, and we are very excited to work with him. This collaboration will be a highlight of our renewed Men’s line.”
The creative minds of Havaianas and Michael Bastian fused together have, indeed, brought one fashionable flip-flops collection that highlights the brand’s originality, style, and comfort.
