Ferragamo goes young & modern

Stores Specialists, Inc., in cooperation with Citibank, recently celebrated the 80th anniversary of world-renowned Italian brand Salvatore Ferragamo with a fashion show. Led by SSI’s executive vice president Anton Huang, Citibank’s country business manager Mark Jones and Salvatore Ferragamo regional executive director Christian Foddis, the occasion was not all about glitz and glamour. The show started with the official turnover of a P2-million check donation to the Philippine National Red Cross as represented by Rosa Rosal, chairman of the Blood Services Committee. This generous contribution is a gesture of appreciation from the three leading brands in celebration of Ferragamo’s mark in the world of fashion, arts, cinema and now of the humanitarian and service efforts it upholds.

The fall/winter ’08 collection of Salvatore Ferragamo featured more youthful, sexy and modern pieces for women’s wear. Sleek trousers and fluid cuts dominated the runway. Sophisticated aesthetics including sharp tailoring and draping was complemented by a clean, cool palette of white, midnight blue and deep purple. Completing the line were shiny silk dresses in green and jumpsuits in silver reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour. For a total Ferragamo look, big structured handbags in fine materials of leather and calf infused with modern details were paired with trendy patent and snakeskin shoes in skyscraper heels and translucent wedges.

For ladies, accessories highlighted were bags in metallic leather and dark-red patent leather. There were also origami-pattern designs as well as patent black top-handle bags to match evening coats and dresses.

For men, Ferragamo presented a sartorial collection ruled by long coats and knitted cardigans in dark hues of blue and black. Accents were key statement pieces, from belted knit cardigan jackets to lapelled overcoats finished with overnight and messenger bags in glossy calfskin and ostrich.

For men, there was luggage in black nappa leather for the workplace and nylon messenger bags for daytime. Belts had the signature Ferragamo gancino closure, a staple and classic item in the brand.

Clients of Citigold, Citibank’s wealth management banking service, came to toast the fashion milestone, and were welcomed by the Citigold team led by Citigold wealth management director Judith Go.

Delectable hors d’ oeuvres were served to the delight of the guests together with overflowing wine and first-class liquor from Ralph’s Wines & Spirits.

In the Philippines, Salvatore Ferragamo is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is available at Greenbelt 3, Alabang Town Center and Rustan’s Makati.
