MANILA, Philippines - Sofronio Ylanan Mendoza (SYM) showcases his mastery of light and evocation of a quiet mood in “A Remembered Place,” which is on view at Galerie Hans Brumann, ground floor, Legaspi Parkview Condominium, Legaspi corner Palanca St., Makati City.

The 11-piece collection of paintings was done by SYM in the early ‘70s.

Marilyn Leung, Violeta Mendoza, Justine Leung at Chef Jessie, Rockwell Club

Marilyn Alcantara-Leung, her daughter Justine and sister Violeta Alcantara-Mendoza hold a three-woman show, which opens on Oct. 1 at Chef Jessie, Rockwell Club in Makati City.

Marilyn and Violeta depict the beauty of nature, while Justine focuses on animals and historical landmarks. The show runs until Oct. 31.

‘Gen/Ngayon 2’ at Museo Orlina

Japanese and Filipino artists Atsuko Yamagata, Lisa Ito, Aba Lluch Dalena, Kayo Nagata, Aze Ong, Mayuko Fukumoto, Sinag de Leon, Marie Ikura and Charlene Bayani hold “Gen/Ngayon 2,” which is on view until Oct. 31 at Museo Orlina, Hollywood St., Hollywood Subdivision, Bgy. Tolentino East, Tagaytay City.

The title combines the Nihonggo word “gen,” which is roughly translated into “now,” “actuality” or “expression” and the Filipino word now, “ngayon.”

The show features interesting and diverse art forms — from installation to paper art, crochet sculptures to painting on textile.

‘Art With Heart’ at Galerie Joaquin

The Rotary Club of Manila Bay presents “Art With Heart,” which opens on Oct. 9 at Galerie Joaquin, 371 P. Guevarra St., San Juan.
