CCP celebrates Earth Day on April 17

MANILA, Philippines - Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), in cooperation with Net 25, Harbor Square, Winner Foundation, Haribon Foundation, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard, GMA 7, Green Peace, Firefly Brigade, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Tourism, Bureau of Plant Industry and Nayong Pilipino, celebrates Earth Day with the theme “The Earth is Our Home, Love Mother Earth” on April 17 from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Billed Luntiang Lungsod, Luntiang Sining (Green City, Green Arts), CCP Earth Day stresses respect for a green environment and advocates the reduction of pollution and stalling climate change.  The whole day celebration will feature events and activities geared for families such as dance and musical performances, a puppet show on environmental awareness, interactive green exhibit, film showings, an eco-friendly market and culinary arts demonstrations.  

CCP Earth Day will begin with Reveille at 5:30 a.m. by the Marine Drum and Bugle Team and the distribution of seedlings. A Holy Mass for Mother Earth will be held at 6 a.m. during which the plant seedlings shall be blessed. Exercises in Asian Form will commence at 7 a.m. to be followed by opening ceremonies with emcee Net 25 TV host Eunice Mariño. At 9 a.m., CCP welcomes the arrival of bikers in the Tour of the Fireflies, the biggest eco-bicycle event with 10,000 participants. All these activities will take place at the CCP Little Theater Entrance on Pedro Bukaneg Street.

Various exhibits will be on view on Pedro Bukaneg Street throughout the day. CCP Earth Day will be capped by a sunset concert from 4 to 6 p.m. at the CCP Eskinita.

Environmental conservation has been an important advocacy of the CCP.
