MANILA, Philippines - Art connoisseurs are in for a pleasant treat when Dutch brothers Alex Van Hagen and Han Van Hagen hold their much-anticipated exhibit dubbed, “Van Hagen & Van Hagen: Brothers in Art Part 3.”
Slated from March 25 to April 1 at The Gallery of The Peninsula Manila, the exhibit is a powerful testament to the duo’s creativity and passion for the arts. Stunning photographs by Alex and exquisite copper etchings by Han will surely enthrall guests of the exhibit. A portion of the proceeds from the exhibit will benefit the Real Life Foundation.
A mainstay in practically all of Manila’s high-profile social gatherings, Alex is a much-respected photographer who beautifully captures the faces and memories of each glamorous event. In this exhibit, Alex shows a different aspect of his creativity as he displays photos that are a far cry from what people normally expect of him such as landscapes and still lifes, which were captured from his travels all over Europe and the Philippines.
On the other hand, Han is as equally accomplished as his brother. One of the founders of The Etch-club of The Hague, Han made his first etches when he studied at the Royal Academy for Arts and Design at The Hague. Among his favorite subjects for his copper etchings include birds, mummies, cows and bulls, sheep, architecture and history. Moreover, Han is widely regarded as one of the contemporary masters of copper etching art throughout Europe.
“Van Hagen & Van Hagen: Brothers in Art Part 3” is presented by Fila and The Peninsula Manila in cooperation with Smart Infinity, Belo Medical Group, Bench, Citi, Nokia, KLM and Philippine Tatler and supported by Moroso, FURNitalia, Fruits & Passion, Charriol, Moët & Chandon and Power Mac Center.
