MANILA, Philippines - With the aim to further develop and diversify the music experience for the Filipino audience, Ayala Museum with the Philippine International Jazz Festival Foundation once again present “Jazz at the Ayala Museum” featuring the best local and international artists of the genre.
This event is a series of four mini concerts to be held at 6 p.m. at the Ground Floor Lobby of the Ayala Museum on Sept. 3 with The Executive Band, Sept. 10 with the Jedi Jazz with Andy Gander and Sept. 16 with the A.M.P. Big Band with Professor Mel Villena.
The Executive Band was founded by Senator Raul Manglapus. Starting out as an amateur band of well-known professionals in the 1960’s, the band has since gained an international following. The current members are well-known in their professional fields like Francis Manglapus, Hector Santivores, Butch Silverio, Jings de Guzman, Martin Macalintal, Mike Tan, Ricky Quiogue, and Vince Tan.
Andy Gander is one of Australia’s foremost jazz drummer who has performed with famous international artists like Harry Connick Jr. and Tom Jones.
AMP Big Band is led by Mel Villena. The band is composed of members of the Asosasyon ng Musikong Pilipino, an organization of Filipino professional session musicians, who seek to preserve and promote the western jazz tradition in the country’s musical heritage.
