Workshops at Lopez Museum

MANILA, Philippines - Lopez Museum hosts a series of workshops to keep those hands and minds busy this summer.

Loreto Apilado of the Cottage Industry Technology Center will hold a two-day Bookbinding East to West workshop until April 24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

March San Valentin will conduct a Pinhole Photography Workshop from May 22 to 29, 1 to 5 p.m.

Lopez Memorial Museum and Library is at the ground floor, Benpres Bldg., Exchange Rd. corner Meralco Ave., Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

Gantimpala Theater holds drama workshop

The 33rd Gantimpala Theater Summer Drama Workshop, which is slated until May 15, offers a two-in-one course that teaches participants basic acting and acting for musical theater. Classes are held at the Rehearsal Hall, Open-Air Auditorium Bldg. in Luneta Park, Manila.

The basic acting course is a practical application of stage acting with lectures and actual exercises on concentration, spontaneity, improvisation, confidence, body and voice preparation, eight basic efforts, characterizations and script analysis.

The acting for musical theater teaches the workshoppers about creative drama, music, voice and dance exercises that helps participants to perform in a musical production.

Main facilitator is Roeder Camañag with guest lecturers.

The workshops are open for teens and young adults. Classes are every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 1 to 5 p.m. A culminating recital will be held on May 15 at the Concert at the Park Open-Air Auditorium.

‘Arts Cool’ at Museo Pambata

Museo Pambata holds its “Arts Cool” summer workshops for young children, teens, and adults this April at Museo Pambata, Roxas Blvd. Corner South Drive, Manila.

Learn basic painting techniques from children’s book illustrator and art teacher Hubert Fucio in the Basic Art Workshop for children aged four to eight years old.

The Art Spot, Art Stuff Workshop for children aged nine to 16 years old will cover painting, diorama and collage making including visits to art galleries. Visual artist Marc Cosico will facilitate.

The Express Yourself Storytelling Workshop for Kids will be facilitated by writer and Philippine Board and Books for Young People (PBBY) president Zarah Gagatiga. It is open for children aged eight to 12 years old.

The Storytelling Workshop for Adults (18 years old and above) is also offered with storytelling group Alitaptap Storytellers Philippines as facilitators.

Actors Pleygrawnd, a group of film, television and theater actors, will conduct a children’s theater workshop for kids aged four to 12 years old.

Basic and Advanced Silk Screening or Serigraphy Workshops are open to teens and children. Facilitator Teny Arellano will teach template making and photo emulsion. The advanced class will work on ceramics and wood.
