MANILA, Philippines - Nineteen contemporary artists present “The Death of Death (is alive and kicking),” which opens on March 20, Saturday, 6 p.m., at SM Art Center, fourth floor, SM Megamall A, Mandalyong City.
The goal of the artists — Juan Alcazaren, Raena Abella, Igan D’Bayan, Kawayan de Guia, Khavn dela Cruz, Joey de Leon, Lourd De Veyra, Kiko Escora, David Griggs, Nina Laurel, Ian Lomongo, Isa Lorenzo, Manuel Ocampo, Gary Ross-Pastrana, Keka Rodriguez, Mark Tandoyog, Wire Tuazon, MM Yu and Jessica Zafra — in this exhibition organized by The Crucible Gallery is to satirize death. They deal with death of all sorts — “death of Death as we know it, death and sex and art in a gruesome threesome, the Death Star, death of history, death of God, death of a toenail, even the undead for that matter — whatever suits their fancy.”
The show, curated by Wire Tuazon, is on view until April 4.
