TAMA '06

TAMA '06, the Tupada Action and Media Art Third International Action Art Event, kicks off at March 9, 2006 at the Samba-Likhaan, Quezon City. The event will commence with an Art Forum on Understanding Performance Art. Ms. Sonia Pelletier, a curator and art critic from Canada, will be on hand to enlighten the audience and other participants on the global perspective in Performance Art. Ms. Eileen Legaspi-Ramirez, a faculty member of the UP College of Arts and Letters and an authority on Art Studies, will be providing the local perspective and its present-day definition. Yuan Mor'O Ocampo, one of the pioneering organizers of live art events in the Philippines, will serve as moderator. Performances by various local and international artists will follow the art forum. On March 10, TAMA '06 goes to Blueroom Artspace in Makati City for more performance pieces and artist interaction, while March 12 brings the event to its Lingayen, Pangasinan leg for another Art Forum, subsequently followed by beachside performances.

Tupada started in 2002 with ambush performances by artists from diverse disciplines in various public spaces, exposing the masses to the artists' creative _expression where they themselves were - on an overpass, in open parks, streets, cafes and alternative art spaces. It has since grown into an art collective which holds international art events, creating connections with local and foreign artists in the spirit of cultural and information exchange and getting together in creating an independent ground for art expressing concerns. Now, TAMA '06 is going even further with action art, involving new media and technology as currently available material and equipment to tackle issues and concerns, expressing them in today's language.

International performance artists Vienna Parreño (Australia), Jean-Pierre Aubé, Ioana Georgescu, André Eric Létourneau, Thierry Marceau, Martine Viale (Canada), Zhou Bin (China), Alexander Del Re (Chile), Cyril Lepetit (France), H attori Ayano, Osamu Kuroda, Maruyama Makoto, Azusa Okumura, Seiji Shimoda (Japan), Kai Lam, Juliana Yasin (Singapore) and Boryana Rossa (USA) have been invited to participate in this event, along with Filipino performance artists Arnel Ramiscal, Boyet de Mesa, Buddy Ching, Elemento's Lirio Salvador and Gilbert Sanches, Jethro Jocson, Jevijoe Vitug, Kaye O'Yek, Lorina Javier, Lourd de Veyra, Maki Calilung, Mannet Villariba, Marlon Magbanua, Mitch Garcia, Pangasinan Art Group, Poklong Anading, Pow Martinez, Ria Muñoz, Rommel Espinosa, Ronaldo Ruiz, Roselle Pineda, Roxlee, Sam Penaso, Sinekalye, Thom Daquioag, Vim Nadera and Yuan Mor'O Ocampo.
