Under Cover

This holiday season, getting all wrapped up, covered and layered is back in fashion. From the recent Fall/Winter 2012 forecasts, one of the most notable to define the new look of layering is from the outstanding Chanel collection. The timeless designer brand turns a new leaf and takes inspiration from the classic — the three-piece suit. Classic reinventions cease to exist with refreshing styling formulas and ideas as the jacket + skirt or dress + pants or leggings look redefines fashion in remarkable proportions.

Wrapped in somber colors and the season’s most wanted hues, the reinterpreted layered look comes in luxurious fabrication. Luxe leather appliqués to penumbral tweeds embrace the season with the warmth of elegance. Chanel takes fashion covered with hints of military to rock-Gothic inspirations and monochromatic graphic patterns to animal prints, creating a fusion of styles in modern layering. Though practicality and comfort might break the code of silence, the key element is basically to be realistic in fashioning the season’s most trendsetting look. After all, one shouldn’t really break into sweat while making a style statement under cover.   Photography by Jo Ann Bitagcol • Styling, post-production and art direction by Mike de Guzman and George Palmiano • Assisted by Sheila Danipog and Darrell Bautista • Hair and makeup by Georginna Desuadido for Makeup Designory Manila • Model: Sinoia Nzima for Elite Manila
