Polo cup debuts in style

“May the glorious Easter celebration not only bring joy and good cheer to every family, but also inspire everyone to spend a meaningful time for reflection, enlightenment and spiritual reconnection with our Almighty Father.”

Adding more prestige to the “sport of kings” is the First Romero Polo Cup held at the Manila Polo Club in Makati.

Hosted by one of Manila’s golden couples Mikee Romero and his lovely wife Sheila, the tournament was a sensation as stars and socialites, politicians and business leaders gathered together to enjoy high society’s favorite sport — the equestrian sport of polo. It was an exciting afternoon both on and off the field with PeopleAsia publisher Babe Romualdez, Argentine Republic Ambassador Joaquin Daniel Otero and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez among the spectators.

The inaugural match saw Team Red composed of polo veterans Anthony Garcia, Iñigo Zobel and Manot Montilla winning over Team Blue, with Mikee Romero scoring three goals. Guests decked in chic resort wear enjoyed the afternoon as champagne and hors d’oeuvres from The Oracle Hotel and Residences (which Sheila heads as CEO) overflowed during the after party.

Kudos to Mikee and Sheila!
