No one knows these more than model-turned-TV host Bianca Gonzalez.
Year 2006 saw her climb up the showbiz ladder. Apparently, the past year also witnessed her rise to the occasion of being under the kliegs of lights. In a span of 12 months, she had experienced all kinds of emotions  extreme happiness, extreme sadness, doubt, certainty, helplessness, reassurance. She listed them down on her web blog. "As the list goes on, life goes on as well," the current "It" girl writes. "Life is a non-stop roller coaster of a journey, a continuous reassessment of priorities and values, and the one and only chance we have to be the best that we can be."
A year after she posted her last entry in 2005 about her European trip with her then beau, this blogger is obviously more mature, who looks at life now on a more experienced, though not necessarily happier, note. What happened to her during the previous year inarguably shaped the Bianca Gonzalez that she is now.
From her stint as a neophyte host in Y-Speak on Studio 23, she ascended the showbiz ladder to prove her mettle as main host for Breakfast, Magandang Umaga Bayan, Blog and just recently, reality shows like Pinoy Dream Academy and Pinoy Big Brother.
"Y-Speak will always have a soft spot in my heart. It’s where I started and where I realized my calling to speak on behalf of my fellow youth," she proudly says.
Before her innocent look and youthful aura graced the boob tube, Bianca was no stranger to the world of glitz and glamour. Once, while walking in the mall with her sister, a shampoo brand agent discovered her and before she knew it, she was in Malaysia shooting for her very first commercial. When she returned, countless fashion editorials and commercials found their way to her. And just to prove that she’s gone a long way now, Bianca is at present endorsing the very same shampoo brand she endorsed years before.
Having projects left and right has not changed Bianca’s down-to-earth personality. Known for her humility and friendliness to everyone, this smart and striking lass keeps her feet on the ground and never lets fame get into her head. One time, she even blushed when the creative team teased her on her newfound celebrity status. "I’m not. I even get starstruck when I see artistas," she beams, her prominent cheeks blushing all the more.
Whether she admits it or not, Bianca is one of the biggest and brightest in the network’s treasure trove of young stars. She is aware that nasty rumors about her are part and parcel of her job. Aware that she can’t please everybody, Bianca just shrugs these off. "What’s important is that I know myself more than anyone else," she quips.
With countless hosting stints that literally fall on her lap, what more can the 23-year-old achiever ask for?
She smiles and without batting an eyelash, tells Allure, "I’m blessed with so much. When Tito Boy (Abunda, her manager in Backroom) asked us to write our wish list for 2007, I felt it’s too much for me to ask for more projects. God gave me so much already. What I wanted to do now is to give back." Exactly what she is doing now. "I have a personal project every Christmas and I call it the Help-Kids-Learn project." As a Mass Communication graduate from Ateneo, she knows what a good education can do to a person.
Little by little, she is undoing whatever pain she’s had in the recent past. Bianca is optimistic that 2007 promises to be a better year.
