Recently, 66 members of the Club and members guests blazed the West Course of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club for the Tower Club Golf Fellowship Cup.
Participants were warmly welcomed at the registration table by the indefatigable event organizers: Tower Club events manager Henree Weiner and Jayelles Holdings Bong Palma-Gil, Suzette Morelos and Roselle Rebano, who later presented a special gift to golfer Luis Tan.
After an early morning breakfast and some practice strokes, participants gathered for the ceremonial tee-off led by Oscar Reyes, a member of the Tower Club board of governors. Oscar, who was so enthusiastic about the Club event, protected himself with sun block before whacking the ball to the applause of the members.
Presented by Volvo and Mizuno in cooperation with San Miguel Corp. and Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Miles, the tournament saw outstanding performance from professional, amateur and beginning golfers in a three-player scramble. Hole sponsors were RCBC, PET Plans and Le Soleil de Boracay.
Business titans displayed the best form to score birdies. Among those spotted on the fairways were AIM president Roberto de Ocampo; Hewlett Packard president Raymund del Val; Systems Standard chairman Augusto Lagman; lawyer Mario Bautista; and Wendel Holdings chairman Delfin Wenceslao Jr. We even heard PNB Life EVP Jaime Fernandez telling his wife Regina, "Lets do it!" Sheesh, I wondered, right on the greens?
After that romprather, that round of golfwe "replenished" our systems with a hefty buffet. When the winners were announced, the plum prize went to Domingo Basas, Gavino Carpio and Amado Castro. First runner-up was the group of former Presidential Adviser Robert Aventajado and father and son tandem Joselito and Boy Millonado. Second runners-up were Lucio Tan Jr., Butch Disini and Willy Tee Ten. CCA Phils. president Arthur Lopez; Tower Club membership director Cyndy Tan-Jarabata; Volvos AVP Martin Mendoza; and Master Sports managing director Lovell Gopez awarded the trophies to the winners.
In the raffle portion, lucky golfer Fernando Lopez walked away with the top prizes: a Philips flat color TV and two-night stay with breakfast at the Marco Polo Davao. Oh, but everyone went home with a prize courtesy of the prize donors Fairways & Bluewater; Boracay Regency; Mandarin Oriental; BestWorld Beverages; Plantation Bay; Dusit Hotel; Boracay Terraces; Manila Peninsula; Waterfront Hotel Cebu; Makati Shangri-La; Mactan Shangri-La; Manila Peninsula; Waterfront Hotel Cebu; Makati Shangri-La; Mactan Shangri-La; Manila Galleria Suites; Sara Lee; Barcelo Pearl Farm; New World Hotel; Marco Polo Davao; Le Soufflé; French Baker; Westin Philippine Plaza; Century Park Hotel; Jewelmer; Philips; LOccitane; Marriot Hotel Cebu; and Federal Hardware.
The event s success was made possible by the noteworthy cooperation of tournament committee members Ian Fenton; Rey Gamboa; Jean Henri Lhuillier; and Jack Madrid.
