How do you expect the Erap-Binay tandem to fare in 2010 should Erap be allowed to run again?

Fortunato Aguirre, Bulacan: Binay is a good manager. Proof of this is Makati. Erap has flaws but who among us is perfect? He is idolized by the masses. Let us return what GMA usurped from him.  

Ric Vergara, Calamba City: Erap is a very dangerous opponent because of our misguided voters in this multi-party system. Magiging bar at casino tayo.  

Erap-Binay is a force to reckon with

Cris Rivera, Rizal: Like every tandem and the fact that former Pres. Estrada, still has the charisma that refuses to wane, the Erap-Binay tandem is a force to reckon with.  

Joe Nacilla, Las Pinas City: Our country needs a leader with a plan to solve what ails this nation with a permanent solution. Erap had the opportunity but he ended up being convicted for plunder. Shall we still allow him the chance to continue the sin he was convicted for? But, knowing how the majority of voters prefer showbiz to crucial national issues, the Erap-Binay tandem will have a big chance in 2010. However, what we need is a leader who can dismantle Imperial Manila and disperse the development to the rest of the Philippines, decongesting Metro Manila.

Avelino Falcon, Saudi Arabia: As P.T. Barnum says, a sucker is born every minute. One should not belittle their tandem. They have the money to burn. As we all know, an election in our country is all about goons, guns and gold. Erap and Binay know these only too well. Let us just hope the thinking voters will prevail this time.  

Erap-Binay tandem will not succeed

Robert Young Jr., San Juan: The Erap-Binay tandem will be a flop. Erap no longer commands the majority of the masses; few outside Metro Manila know Binay. After Pres. Cory’s death, Noynoy has now the votes of the masses. Mar gets the support of the Visayan and Mindanao voters.  

Vir Lauzon, General Santos City:The Erap-Binay tandem is bound to the dustbin or pupulutin sila sa kangkungan. Both are trapos.  

Eufrocino Linsangan, Isabela: Believing that Filipino voters have attained maturity and are wiser now makes me believe that Erap-Binay tandem will be pupulutin sa kangkungan.  

Ferdinand Rafer, Cavite: Erap may end up as the third placer in the presidential race and Binay fourth as VP come 2010 election.  

Lydia Reyes, Bataan: They are on the bottom list and are unlikely to succeed.  

Ishmael Q. Calata, Parañaque City: It’s time for Erap to hang up his political fighting gloves. I don’t think he still has that charisma among even to the masa that used to love him and idolized him as if an award-winning acting prowess on the silver screen were enough to make a man good in governance in running the affairs of leadership in the actual world. Even the masa by now have awaken to the reality that nothing much was accomplished to alleviate their plight during their idol’s abbreviated time in the Presidency. By the way, I thought Jejomar Binay has given way to the tandem of Noynoy-Mar? Oh, well, if I am wrong then I’d say the good mayor might as well stick it out in Makati than run for the Vice-presidency.

Johann Lucas, Quezon City: I don’t think that the Erap-Binay tandem will be effective. Erap’s intention for the poor is highly commendable but we’ve had enough of it. On Mayor Binay’s vice presidential bid, much better if he runs for senator. It’s too early for him to aim for a higher position.

Germi Sison, Cabanatuan City: It will put closure to the wild dreams of these two adventurous men or to the wrong perception of the learned of how shallow the knowledge of the two to be effective public servants.  

Desuel Pardo Mandaluyong City: I don’t think the Erap-Binay tandem will make any dent on the other presidential tandems as the duo is just hallucinating that they still have the charm to captivate the electorate. Erap is hoping that his popularity will earn him millions of votes.  

Arrin Villareal, Antipolo City: Erap and Binay in 2010? Good try but better luck next time.  

Erap will pull Binay down

Pedro Alagano Sr., Vigan City: Binay is a good vice-presidential timber but he’ll be pulled down by (hallucinating) Erap, who is headed for the “kangkungan”. They’re destined to lose.  

Leonard Villa, Batac City :It won’t click. Erap will pull down Binay and they will both lose. To have a better fighting chance, Binay shouldn’t tandem with Erap.  

Dennis Acop, Benguet: An Erap-Binay tandem for 2010 clearly illustrates everything that is wrong not only in Philippine politics but in the entirety of Filipino society. First, where in the world would anyone find a convicted plunderer again running for the presidency with enough voters willing to bring him back to power as if nothing happened? Second, if Binay is presenting himself as an alternative to the current leadership, what is he doing running with Erap? Third, given the preceding issues and the fact that the duo will be going up against a number of more appealing and talented candidates, I think the optimistic chances of the tandem are overrated. Noynoy and Mar offer superior moral ascendancy and competence. Escudero is a promising young and dynamic leader. Even Villar, whose integrity is in question, fares better than Erap. Teodoro, despite his being identified with the corrupt GMA administration and Danding, comes across as a bankable bright competent leader. Fourth, despite the incomprehensible number of Filipinos who still find merit in the discredited Erap, there are also other Filipinos with enough self-respect and shame not to vote for him if only to preserve or regain whatever little respect is left of the Philippines in the international community of nations.  

Jenifer Aquino Xavier, Parañaque City: Binay should be told to steer clear of Erap. It’s committing political suicide.  

They may not fare well in other regions

Col Ben Paguirigan Jr., Ret., Zamboanga City: The Erap-Binay tandem seems to be a good combination, probably in Metro Manila and Cagayan Valley where we come from, but can they lure voters from other regions like our Mindanao?  

Rudy Tagimacruz, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon: Binay isn’t widely known but Erap’s name still rings loud in the rural areas here. Their tandem, who knows?  

Ella Arenas, Pangasinan: Malabo, Erap is no longer popular while Binay is well known only in Makati. Sayang ang perang gagastusin, pantulong na lang sa biktima ni Ondoy at Pepeng.  

Erap is disqualified under the law

C.B. Manalastas, Manila: The tandem is doomed. Under the law, Erap is disqualified from running again. Only Ernie Maceda and Erap’s ambitious alalays say it’s ok.  

Patrick Miranda, Marikina City: Erap-Binay, what for? Pwede ba?  

Rey Onate, Palayan City: I expect that there will be no Erap-Binay tandem in 2010. Erap should not be allowed to run again. Binay should make a sincere effort to rid his turf of squatter colonies.  

If allowed to run, Erap has a slim chance

Elpidio Que, Vigan: The Erap-Binay tandem, if Erap is allowed to run, has a slim chance of winning. That is the causal effect of the poison unleashed by Lacson on his former boss. I just had a peek this afternoon of a survey for a political group which showed Noynoy to be like a tsunami. We wish that Erap will instead give way and support Noynoy for him to leave behind a sweet legacy. We wish also that the Liberal Party would include in its senatorial slate slam-bang candidates Bongbong Marcos and Danny Lim to garnish it with variety. Both have the “Solid North” as bailiwick to propel them. As for Jejomar, he would give Mr. Palengke a good wrestle for vice president, and I believe in him as my APO fraternity brother.  

Erap is history

Jim Veneracion, Naga City: To the gullible masang Pilipino, Erap-Jojo may be it. But for God’s sake, Erap is now history and thus shouldn’t be President again. He’s long been dead wood.  

Jimmy Donton, Puerto Princesa City: For heaven’s sake, Erap should think of retiring as a political kingpin. It’s time to give other young and idealist political leaders the chance to govern this diverse nation and instead promote federalism.  

Rodolfo Talledo, Angeles City: The credibility of Erap has been irreparably disparaged with his conviction of plunder and accusations of murder. Binay lacks the charisma to win a national election.  

Chris Navarro, Las Piñas City; They will lose. Erap’s time has passed. Binay’s popularity is confined in Makati only.  

Edwin Castillo, Tanauan City: They will lose. Nasubukan na si Erap, pagbibigyan ba natin ulit siya? Ang platform niya ay political revenge.  

People want young blood

Rose Leobrera, Manila: Nasa kapuwitan yan. Pinoys are now intelligent and they cannot be bluffed any longer. Kay Binay pa, there is hope, but with Erap, we already had a taste of his governance. Never again. What Erap sees in his campaign trail is mere curiosity for an artista and a celebrity. The screaming and the maddening crowd are just mere fans but that doesn’t necessarily means he is an outright winner and can regain his past honor. What we crave at this point in time is a government under a new breed of political leaders who could offer change and definitely not a replay.  

Eddie Yap, Kabankalan City: I am very pessimistic for the Erap-Binay tandem in the 2010 election. The majority of voters now will go for young blood still untarnished by scandal and corruption. This is the right time for Erap to set aside his political desires and perhaps go back to acting. He still has his diehard fans who will support his movies and he can help revitalize the movie industry. Let’s try the young breed of political leaders.  

Maricel Maralit, Naga City: Erap has had his time. People are looking for a new breed of leaders. I might vote for Binay, though, if he runs for the Senate.  

Sem. John Francis C. Aberion, RCJ, Dasmariñas, Cavite: Isn’t this a sign of hunger for power? Erap should give a chance to other candidates who desire to serve our country.

Felix Ramento, Manila: With almost all the cards already laid out on the table, it would be like going against all odds picking the Erap-Binay ticket. “Sabi ko nga, ang tambalan Noynoy-Mar ay nagpataas ng antas at nakapag-padali ng pagpili ng iboboto ng sambayanang Pilipino sa 2010.” If only for once, let the presidential election be a contest among our dedicated young blood and not among “trapos” and old fogies.  

No match to Noynoy-Mar

Lucas Banzon Madamba II, USA: Should Erap be allowed to run again in 2010, the Erap-Binay tandem will not fare well in the 2010 elections. I think the Noynoy-Mar tandem will prevail in 2010 because of the strength of support that people have for Noynoy.

Louella Brown, Baguio City: Should Erap be allowed to run again, the Erap-Binay tandem is no match to the Noynoy-Mar tandem in 2010.  

Imee Aglibot, USA: With Noynoy in the race, Erap and others are sure to take the backseat. Back here, everytime we would go to Filipino stores, our kababayans are one in their choice of picking Noynoy, while several others have their own bets. Last time, when we were at Goldilocks, the hot topics were how to help our hapless countrymen victims of Ondoy, followed by Noynoy’s candidacy. It only shows that he is the star of the game.  

Erap has strong mass appeal

Dandy Lacuesta, Las Piñas City: Erap and Binay will give others a run for their money (figuratively). Erap still has strong mass appeal with the poor and has been campaigning for some time.  

Jose Parco, Kalibo, Aklan: The Filipino people made a terrible mistake voting Erap as President. But mark my word, there will still be a great percentage of the populace who will be out make the very same mistake they made before! So be it.  

L.C. Fiel, Quezon City: Erap is the man to beat as far as the masa is concerned but I’m not sure about Binay’s winnability. Baka kung si Chiz pa.  

Pinoys are getting smart

Manuel Abejero, Pangasinan: Erap must be daydreaming if he thinks Pinoys are still easy to hoodwink. There are young and intelligent voters who will not let a replay of Erap presidency happen.  

Delfin Todcor, Quezon City: Filipino voters now are intelligent, and care to protect the national interest. So they will choose the one who can effect reform.  

It will be a nightmare

Gerii Calupitan, Muntinlupa City: If the Erap-Binay tandem wins, it will be a nightmare on Polk Street (Part 2). How can corruption end if we elect an ex-President convicted of plunder? Erap has no clear agenda except to vindicate and clear his name, while Binay’s only wish is seemingly to expand his power beyond the republic of Makati? Erap, tama na.  

Lorenzo Fernandez Jr., Cabanatuan City: To vote for Erap-Binay tandem is like opening a Pandora’s box that is full of worms.  

Dr. F.C. Gallardo, Nueva Ecija: The tandem will not be a big hit. Whether Erap or Binay admit it or not, they both financially benefitted during their stints as President and city mayor, respectively. So please do not believe them that they are maka-masa.  

A shortcut to the presidency for Binay?

Josh Pacatang, Dipolog City: The Erap-Binay tandem is Binay’s deceptive shortcut to the presidency if both are lucky to win the 2010 elections.
