X-Files. It gives laymen an idea of paranormal activities, UFOs, CIA cover-ups. It also gives born-again Christians a reason to be wary of the belief that things not mentioned in the Bible are works of the devil. – Gerii Calupitan, Mandaluyong City

Nothing specific, but I enjoy all programs related to sports, current events, documentaries and entertainment. Senate probes not included, please. – Pedro Alagano Sr., Vigan City

Investigative programs

My favorite TV program is Bitag of Ben Tulfo, the real investigative authority. The brusko attitude of dealing with negative elements is what I like most. – Johann Lucas, Quezon City

In the morning, ABS-CBN’s World Patrol and GMA’s Unang Hirit. I switch channels whenever those nasty commercials appear. At 6pm, I watch the evening editions. Weekends, I watch XXX and Imbestigador. We who live in the middle of the fields have limited access to TV channels. This is why one gadget I dream of owning is a satellite antenna. For talk shows, I seldom miss Ricky Carandang’s The Big Picture and Anthony Velasquez’s Crossroads on ANC and Larry King Live on CNN. For entertainment, I latch my eyes on GMA’s Bubble Gang to titillate my mind with the antics of Ogie Alcasid and Michael V. and the drumsticks of my dream girls Diana Zubiri, Francine Prieto and Maureen Larrazabal. – Elpidio Que, Vigan

My favorite TV shows are TV Patrol World, 24 Oras, Pera o Bayong and Wrestling. I love the programs on Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, and Jack TV. – Rogelio Briones, Metro Manila

Game K N B?, Bandila, The Buzz, TV Patrol, CNN news. – C. Manalastas, Manila

Travel and culture

I watch the Asian Food Channel and Living Asia – no particular show; I just tune in to those channels when I turn on the TV because they feature food, history and travel in one. It’s like visiting different places without moving from my own place. I also watch the Wowowee portion wherein six contestants get to show off their talents and life stories. I am impressed at how the oldies adore Willie Revillame. I also watch Korina’s Balitang K because of her inspirational stories to get a glimpse of the grand houses of some celebrities, and to discover some unique personalities. I also like Wish Ko Lang, the show that gives new life to lucky letter senders. I hope the show could follow up kung nagamit nga sa tama ang gift. I am impressed with their search for good samaritans. I get to see the real character of Pinoys. Many show no sympathy for dirty people. – Rose Leobrera, Manila

I like programs on National Geographic and Living Asia. It’s nice to see other people’s culture and compare it with ours. – Loi Castillo, Davao City

I am not fond of the idiot box but when I do watch, I watch programs on Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Living Asia, Travel and Fashion. At least I get to learn something new once in a while. – C.K. Yeo, Iloilo City

Talk shows

Most local shows are no-brainers. It’s a waste of time to watch game shows where contestants are humiliated for the chance to win some money. I watch newscasts and talk shows. – Nina Say, Zamboanga

Talk shows on RJTV and NBN. – Armando Tavera, Las Piñas City

My favorites are Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus and Lobo. Very entertaining. – Camille Tan, Cagayan de Oro City

My favorite TV programs years ago were The World Tonight with Loren Legarda and Angelo Castro, the telenovela Valiente, Randy David’s Truth Forum and the PBA games from the Crispa/Toyota rivalry up to the height of Patrimonio’s and Magsanoc’s career. Those were the days I could not miss any of those TV shows. At present, I appreciate the two rival noontime shows that accord the public with chances to win fortunes and regale us with wholesome entertainment. I also love Game Ka Na Ba?, Wheel of Fortune, One Against the Mob and Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade V? I am only turned off when contestants are celebrities. – Germi Sison, Cabanatuan City

Game K N B. I like the humor of Edu Manzano. I also love American Inventors. Some inventions are simply amazing; some are junk. – Eric Gopilan, Taguig City

I now share my wife’s TV viewing. Thus, during weekdays, Channel 7’s  Eat Bulaga has been  lunch time TV fare for so many years. After the evening newscasts, we’ve enjoyed GMA7’s drama and fantasy series so much that hurrying home from some out-of-town appointments is always imperative. – William Gonzaga, Marikina City

Noontime shows

The noontime show Wowowee, where the natural and even the mediocre talents of contestants are exploited to the delight of the viewer. – Ricardo Tolentino, Laoag City

I’m a diehard Eat Bulaga fan. Nothing more, nothing less! – Trish del Rosario, Dagupan City

Why ask?

Pardon me for saying this, but the question about my favorite TV programs and show is so petty and provincial. So, next question please? – Jim Veneracion, Naga City

I watch a morning and an evening newscast and PBA games. Is this a survey question for TV programs? – Ed Alawi, Davao City

Can’t stand commercials

TV viewing is really boring nowadays. It’s full of commercials and telesines. – Gil Balobalo, Laguna

I just can’t stand too many commercials; with the remote control, I change channels to catch the news. – Dr. Hiram Tiburcio, Lapulapu City

None in particular, but food supplement commercials make me think of the number of viewers deceived despite the admonition that there are “No approved therapeutic claims.” – Renato Taylan, Ilocos Norte

Kapuso, kapamilya

Kasalo ko sa agahan, tanghalian at hapunan ang Umagang kay Ganda, Game K N B? at TV Patrol. I’m a certified Kapamilya. – Darwin Fonte, Ifugao

I’m an avid GMA viewer and undoubtedly addicted to their shows. Unang Hirit with Arnold Clavio and his angels is my starter. Lunch is complete with either QTV’s Balitang Tanghali or Eat Bulaga. Nap time is enhanced by noontime soaps. Evenings are news time with 24 Oras, after which I’d switch to QTV or any other channel that will catch my fancy. I’d go for documentaries at late night. I don’t go for showbiz talk shows, except for Ricky Lo Exclusives because for me his exclusives are really explosive. Kap’s Amazing Stories is everybody’s favorite. In this show, you’ll see how animals fight and corrupt each other and kill for survival. Realistic? Yes, very much like the real world. – Imee Aglibot, Rizal

THE WAY I SEE IT

We must be on guard against bird flu. I can’t imagine the damage this could do to our food industry. – Edwin Castillo, Tanauan City

REACTIONS

Kudos to W.M. Esposo in his May 11 column. we protect foreign interests and reject our national interests, especially media. – Ed Alawi, Davao City

To one of my favorite Inbox texters, Ms. Rose Leobrera: Please take heart. I’m sure you yourself have felt the progress you’ve talked about when you enjoyed and got fascinated by your 40-minute trip via the world-class SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway). You’re right. We should have more of these super highways constructed all over our country to attract more foreign tourists and foreign investments in the countryside. More foreign investments means more jobs. If we create more jobs, we can reduce poverty in our country in due time. – Juan Deveraturda, Subic, Zambales

To all: Read Chris Navarro, “No problem”, Inbox World May 11. It does pay to be close to the earth. We should emulate his enviable lot. – Nestor Buñag, Mandaluyong City
