From Dino Monzon of Caloocan City: Who were/ are your favorite comics characters?

Watching Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Sylvester and other Looney Toon characters makes me feel like a child again. Edwin Castillo, Tanauan City

My favorite is Asyong Aksaya. He is a timely reminder that we shouldn’t be wasteful in using resources.Robert Young Jr., San Juan

Wish they were real

The adventurism of Master Sleuth fascinates me no end. If he were real, we could use him in today’s crime-laden landscape. – Ludwig Aguinaldo, Digos City

Superman, Batman, Phantom and Tarzan. Wish they were around to help the AFP. – G.M. Caguioa, Dagupan City

The man of steel Superman and the naked lord of the jungle Tarzan top my comic character favorites. It’s saddening that he is not a reality to finish off untouchable perfumed bandits who ruin our country’s economy. – Elpidio Que, Vigan

It was kid’s fun to see a thin Popeye overcome the mighty Brutus to save his Olive. I wish to have his spinach, too, to make greedy men in government experience what Brutus does. – Rose Leobrera, Manila

Andy Capp and Hagar live in our house under assumed names. – Czarina Caguioa, Dgupan City

My favorite cartoon is Dumbo, the flying pachyderm. Like Osibisa Woyaya, the idea was awesome. Now, Dumbo is out, Jamby is in. Okay din. – Sheldon Calupitan, Quezon City

MORE ENERGY-SAVING TIPS

I use timers on my living room lights. All our incandescent bulbs have been replaced with high-efficiency ones. We aslo use a programmable thermostats. As for our personal computers at home, although they are left on, we have replaced them with LCD monitors. Outside lights have motion sensors so they only go on when there is motion around them. – Jonathan Cabrera, Ontario, Canada

Avoid using many appliances or if you can’t avoid it, try to lessen usage between 10 am 2 pm. This is when the climate is really hot and the appliances are more susceptible to overheating. – Alvin Perez, Manila
