CTR All-Stars outshine NCAA/UAAP selection

CEBU, Philippines — The Chase Tower Runs (CTR) All-Stars outclassed the NCAA/UAAP selection, 106-91, in their basketball exhibition match at the Cokaliong Tower recently.

The explosive trio of Froilan Mangubat, Jancork Cabahug, and Shane Menina powered CTR of Chase Cokaliong to a 15-point drubbing of their equally-tough rivals.

Mangubat fired 24 points, while Cabahug bulldozed his way to a 22-point finish with eight rebounds and three assists.

Menina added 20 points, three boards and four dimes for CTR, which unleashed a furious second-half attack to frustrate the NCAA/UAAP squad.

CTR trailed by as much as 13 points, 32-45, early in the second period but the boys of coach Paul Joven rallied back with savvy in the third quarter to seize the upper hand, 79-76, all the way to a rousing come-from-behind victory.

Jerome Napao and Sean Quiteves combined for 27 points in CTR’s balanced offensive performance.

Nic Cabañero paced the NCAA/UAAP selection with 25 points, three rebounds and four assists.

Jared Bahay and John Galinato conspired for 27 points while RR Pogoy tallied 12 markers in a losing effort. — (FREEMAN)
