PAGASA said the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, may enhance winds and bring strong to gale-force gusts over Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Abra, and parts of the Cagayan Valley.

Ada is forecast to move northeastward until Monday before following a looping track over the sea east of Luzon.

The weather bureau said the storm is expected to maintain its strength through Sunday, weaken into a tropical depression by Tuesday, January 20, and further weaken into a low-pressure area by Thursday, January 22, due to the surge of the northeast monsoon.
