Tropical depression "Pablo" accelerated as it headed toward the South China Sea. At 4 p.m. yesterday, it was spotted at 190 kms southwest of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro or in the vicinity of the Calamian group of islands with strongest sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. It is moving west-northwest at 24 kph.

"Pablo" is expected to be at 590 kms west-northwest of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro this afternoon.

Public Storm Warning Signal No. 1 is hoisted over Batangas, Romblon, Calamian, the Mindoro provinces, Cuyo and Lubang islands, Palawan, Aklan and Antique, which will have winds of 30-60 kph.

Rains are expected in Central and Southern Luzon and Metro Manila.

An intertropical convergence zone prevails across Southern Luzon and the Visayas. Western Visayas, Mindoro and Palawan will have occasional rains and gusty winds, and moderate to rough seas.

Central Luzon, the rest of Southern Luzon and the Visayas and Mindanao will be cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.
