Tropical depression "Lawin" intensified slightly as it changed course to the west-northwest in the general direction of Batanes-Taiwan area yesterday.

Tropical Depression "Lawin" is forecast to be at 700 kilometers east-southeast of Basco, Batanes this morning, at 400 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes by tomorrow morning and about 150 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes by Thursday morning.

"Lawin" will enhance the southwest monsoon and bring light to moderate rains over the country, particularly over the western sections.

Residents in low lying areas and near mountain slopes are advised to be alert for possible occurrence of flashfloods and landslides.

Meanwhile, a southwesterly surface windflow is prevailing over the western sections of the country.

Central and Southern Luzon and Western Visayas will experience cloudy skies with occasional rains. The rest of Visayas will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Luzon and Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with rainshowers and thunderstorms.
