Typhoon "Labuyo" intensified further and remained almost stationary in the vicinity of Calayan Islands in the Balintang Channel.

At 4 p.m. yesterday, the eye of typhoon "Labuyo" was estimated at 110 kilometers south-southwest of Basco, Batanes or 130 kms north-northwest of Aparri, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness up to 160 kph.

It is forecast to remain almost stationary. It is expected to be 150 kms southwest of Basco or 160 kms north of Laoag City this afternoon.

Public Storm Signal No. 3 is in effect over the Batanes group of islands, while Public Storm Signal No. 2 is hoisted over Cagayan, Apayao and Ilocos Norte. These areas will have stormy weather and rough to very rough coastal waters.

Public Storm Signal No. 1 is in effect over the rest of Northern Luzon which will experience rains and winds of not more than 60 kph, and moderate to rough coastal waters.

"Labuyo" will continue to induce more monsoon rains over Luzon and the Western Visayas. The rest of the country will be cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
