BANGUED, Abra, Philippines — A 36-year-old nurse of the Abra Provincial Hospital was killed while his 10-year-old daughter was wounded in an attack by motorcycle-riding men in this town on Friday night.

Bystanders rushed Mark Kenneth Acedo and his daughter to the Assumpta Family Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Acedo and his family were in a Hyundai hatchback parked in front of an event’s venue in Barangay Angad when two men on separate motorcycles opened fire at them.

Police arrested Brix Walter Barrera in a follow-up operation in nearby Tayum town and seized from him a .45-caliber pistol.
