MANILA, Philippines — United States President Donald Trump will attend the 49th ASEAN Summit in Manila next month, Malacañang confirmed on Wednesday, October 14.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said during a briefing today the US leader's visit was now "confirmed."
It will be Trump’s first visit since 2017, when the Philippines last hosted the ASEAN summit.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. extended the invitation to Trump during his White House visit in July 2025. “I look forward to hosting President Trump next year to attend the ASEAN meetings,” Marcos said in his arrival statement after the trip.
The Philippines chairs ASEAN this year and will host the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits from November 16 to 18, with the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City as the main venue.
The three days have been declared special non-working days in Metro Manila due to the anticipated traffic and for the security of the summit participants.
Trump will join the summit and then fly to Shenzhen, China, for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit from November 17 to 19, according to reports citing the White House.
