7 injured after vehicle plunges into ravine
CEBU, Philippines — Seven people were injured after a multicab plunged into a ravine in sitio Upper Dibdib, Barangay Sacsac, Dalaguete, Cebu on Wednesday morning, September 9.
The multicab was driven by alias Jose, a resident of Sogod, Cebu. Six passengers were aboard the vehicle, including his wife, their two children and three others. All seven occupants were residents of Sogod.
The group had reportedly come from Barangay Patong in Badian, Cebu, where they had visited relatives. They were already heading home to Sogod when the accident occurred.
As they traveled along the downhill portion of the road, the multicab reached a curved section where Jose reportedly lost control of the vehicle while maneuvering toward the right.
The vehicle then went off the road and plunged into a ravine estimated to be 20 to 25 meters deep.
Jose later told police that the vehicle may have experienced brake failure, which he believed caused him to lose control while navigating the downhill road.
Police officers who responded to the scene attended to the injured occupants and facilitated their transport to the Isidro Kintanar Memorial District Hospital, where they received medical treatment.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine whether brake failure was indeed a factor in the crash and to establish the exact circumstances that led to the multicab plunging into the ravine. – MRM (CEBU NEWS)
