Singapore to host 2027 Pokemon worlds

SAN FRANCISCO, United States – The 2027 Pokemon World Championships is headed to Southeast Asia. 

Next year’s Pokemon worlds will be held in Singapore, Pokemon Company President Tsunekazu Ishihara announced Sunday (Monday, Manila time) at the Chase Center here. 

The announcement came as this year’s Pokemon World Championships and the Pokemon XP drew to a close. 

This is the first time the worlds will return to Asia since 2023, when it was held in Japan. 

“Our time together here at San Francisco has drawn to a close. You can already look forward to the edition next year, but where will our destination be?” Ishihara said through a translator.

“We look forward to welcoming you to the beautiful city of Singapore.”

The three-day World Championships and the first-ever Pokemon XP ended with a bang with several announcements, including updates on Pokemon Unite, Pokemon Champions and Pokemon Trading Card Game, made.

A new Pokemon film — Pokemon: Wildcard — was likewise announced. 

A surprise performance by Ed Sheeran, who sang a rendition of the Pokemon theme song, capped off the event.
