Carlos Yulo inducted into MPL PH Wall of Fame

MANILA, Philippines — Double Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo was inducted into the MPL Philippines Wall of Fame as the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) officially opened its 18th season.
Yulo, an avid MLBB player himself who enjoys using heroes like Carmilla, Floryn and Angela, was honored during the Season 18 launch at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City. He joins a growing list of personalities recognized for their impact on Filipino sports and gaming.
The gymnast's recognition comes at a significant time for Philippine esports, with MLBB set to make its Asian Games debut. Like Yulo, esports athletes will soon carry the responsibility of representing the Philippines on one of Asia's biggest stages.
While esports is often viewed differently from traditional sports, Yulo said he understands the demands that come with competing at a high level.
"I know siguro sa ibang tao o sa ibang atleta, hindi nila nakikita yung esport na physical, pero it's really mentally tiring. And kapag overly tense ko siyang ginagawa, it can lead to frustration as well and stress. Kaya din ako nag-lalaro, kapag na-stress ako sa ginagawa ko physically. I really enjoy kahit matalo man nga. It doesn't really matter as long as I'm playing. As long as nasasayaan ako sa ginagawa ko. Refreshing for me also,” said Yulo.
He also emphasized the shared responsibility that comes with wearing Philippine colors, a sentiment he believes applies equally to both traditional and esports athletes.
"Yung ipinaglalaban ng esports athletes natin, alam ko na siyempre tayong mga Pilipino, hindi tayo patatalo sa ibang countries. Gusto nating ibigay yung best natin, especially sa esports. Sobrang competitive natin. For me, mabigat ko siya na responsibility for all of us athletes. Before, akala ko sarili ko lang din. Akala ko din na individual lang ako na nandun. Pero doon ko na experience and I realized na malaking dala talaga yung daladala ko. And it's not all about me, it's about also my country. Madami tayong mga Pilipino mahusay talaga sa kahit anong larangan,” shared Yulo.
