Go climbs 10 spots to finish joint 23rd in Asian Development Tour Indonesia

MANILA, Philippines -- Lloyd Go closed with a 68 to jump 10 places and finish joint 23rd in the Indonesia Pro-Am Championship, won by China’s Andi Xi in thrilling fashion Friday at the Gunung Geulis Country Club’s East Course in Bogor, Indonesia.

The Cebuano ace, who started the final round at 33rd place, carded six birdies against three bogeys for a seven-under 206 total, 11 strokes behind Xi. While his 68 was not enough to break into the Top 20, Go’s determined finish further underscored the resilience that has marked his recent campaign on the Philippine Golf Tour.

Go was the lone survivor among four Filipino hopefuls in the tournament. He birdied the opening two holes before taking advantage of the first two par-5s on Nos. 6 and 9, offsetting a bogey on the third hole to make the turn in 32.

He endured a tougher run on the back nine, making two bogeys against a lone birdie over the first six holes. But relying on his power, Go birdied the final par-5 to post a 38 and salvage a 32-38 card.

Up front, Xi produced a pressure-packed finish to edge Australian Darcy Brereton by one stroke and claim the championship at 18-under 195 in the $125,000 tournament of the Asian Development Tour.

Xi fired a closing 65, highlighted by four straight birdies to finish, while Brereton matched him with his own version of a six-under round, highlighted by four birdies over the last seven holes. The Aussie, however, settled for second at 17-under 196, while Korean Minhyeok Yang rallied with a 64 to finish third at 209.
