Camotes to host National Age Group Triathlon Series

CEBU, Philippines — A big-time triathlon event will again take place in Camotes Island with the staging of the 2026 National Age Group Triathlon Series on October 24-25. With its scenic coastline, challenging roads, and vibrant communities, Camotes offers the perfect backdrop for a weekend where sport, tourism, and youth development come together.

Spearheaded by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Triathlon Philippines in partnership with the provincial government of Cebu headed by governor Pamela Baricuatro, the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission led by chairman Dr. Rhoel Dejano, and the Local Government Units of San Francisco, Poro, and Tudela in Camotes, the two-day action begins on October 24 with the National Age Group Duathlon at 6:00 a.m. in Tudela and Poro.

It will be followed by the National Age Group Aquathlon at 3:00 p.m. at Santiago Bay in San Fran.

The weekend culminates with the National Age Group Triathlon on October 25 at 6:00 a.m. in Santiago Bay.

The multi-sport tilt will feature Elite, Junior Elite, Youth/15, Super Trikids, and Age Group categories, bringing together athletes of different ages and abilities from across the country.

Beyond competition, the Camotes leg supports Triathlon Philippines’ grassroots development and talent identification programs, giving young athletes valuable racing experience and a platform to discover and develop their potential.

As part of its long-term athlete development strategy, Triathlon Philippines is also establishing its National Youth Training Pool (NYTP) to identify and develop the country’s most promising young triathletes.

The program will form an important part of the national preparation for the 2027 SEA Games Plus Youth, which the Philippines will host in December 2027.

Through a structured pathway of competition, training, monitoring, and development, Triathlon Philippines aims to prepare the next generation of athletes to represent the country on the international stage.

“Bringing the National Age Group Triathlon Series to Camotes Island is about more than staging races. It is about creating opportunities for young athletes, discovering future champions, and building a clear pathway for their development as we prepare for the 2027 Southeast Asia Plus Youth Games,” said Triathlon Philippines President Tom Carrasco Jr.

The event also contributes to the initiatives of Baricuatro and the PSC in promoting sports development and sports tourism, using sport as a platform to showcase local destinations, create opportunities for communities, encourage active and healthy lifestyles, and strengthen Cebu’s position as a destination for sporting events.
