Alas bows out with lesson, promise

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine volleyball would need time to flourish under the bright lights in the international stage.
This was the lesson learned after the Alas girls made it to the Round of 16 of the FIVB Volleyball Girls U17 World Championship in Santiago, Chile.
“Alas Pilipinas has played well despite having so little time to build chemistry,” said Alas team manager Karl Chan moments after the Filipinas fell anew to the Venezuelans, 25-22, 25-15, 20-25, 25-22, yesterday at the Parque Estadio Nacional.
“This team had been together for only about a week before we left for Chile, while you can see that the other teams have had much more time to play and develop together,” he added.
Truly, you can imagine how would these brave lasses fare with longer preparation.
It could have been more magical than just setting a new standard as the best performing Philippine team in world jousts.
