CEBU, Philippines — A 35-year-old farmer was injured after he was allegedly shot by a fellow farmer while taking his carabao to pasture in Barangay Cantularoy, Sibonga, Cebu, around 7:33 p.m. Friday, August 14.

Police identified the victim only as alias Raymond, a resident of Purok 1, Cantularoy. The suspect, alias Eloy, 22, is a farmer from Barangay Duguan.

Investigators said Raymond was leading his carabao when Eloy allegedly approached and fired at him with an undetermined firearm.

A bullet struck Raymond’s left arm, and he was rushed to Carcar District Hospital for treatment.

Police said the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute involving Eloy’s father. Raymond had reportedly told the father he would file a barangay complaint over a borrowed motorcycle that was not returned.

The quarrel allegedly angered Eloy, who later confronted Raymond. The suspect fled after the shooting and remains at large.

The Sibonga Municipal Police Station is conducting follow-up operations and continuing its investigation to determine the appropriate charges. — (FREEMAN)
