MANILA, Philippines — Pieces of metal debris believed to have come from a rocket were recovered by personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Calayan, Cagayan on Thursday.

A resident found the debris along the shores of Sitio Naydi in Barangay Babuyan Claro, according to PCG spokesperson Cmdre. Noemie Cayabyab.

The debris bore no markings that can confirm it was part of a rocket, Cayabyab said.

“We advised fisherfolk and coastal residents to avoid touching unidentified floating objects as these may contain hazardous chemicals, and to immediately report these to authorities,” she said.

The PCG said it would work with other government agencies to determine the origin and nature of the debris.
