2 Pinoys injured in drone strike return home

MANILA, Philippines — Two Filipino seafarers who were injured after a drone strike hit the Panama-flagged tanker M/T Gas Lisbon in the Black Sea arrived in Manila on Monday, according to the Department of Migrant Workers.

The DMW said the seafarers arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on a Qatar Airways flight.

They were welcomed by officials of the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

The DMW and OWWA provided airport and financial assistance to the overseas Filipino workers.

Their licensed manning agency, Alpha Pearl of the Orient Maritime Inc., facilitated their repatriation, hospitalization and medical expenses.

Representatives of the agency were also present at the airport to assist the returning seafarers.

The DMW directed the manning agency to ensure that the workers undergo physical and psychological examinations, as well as debriefing sessions.

The agency and its accredited principals were also reminded to strictly observe safety measures and comply with established protocols for vessels carrying Filipino seafarers transiting the Black Sea.
