Marcos to INC: Be nation-building partners

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has urged Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) members to remain a “steadfast partner in nation-building” as the religious sect commemorated its 112th anniversary.
“May this milestone deepen your commitment to translating your beliefs into meaningful acts that uplift those in need, comfort the weary and foster harmony wherever you serve,” Marcos said yesterday.
“In this spirit, I encourage every member of the INC to remain a steadfast partner in nation-building, where faith is demonstrated through service and citizenship is expressed through genuine concern for others,” he added.
Protests had been organized by the INC amid the flood control controversy and detention for plunder of one of its members, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.
Known for bloc voting, the INC had supported President Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte’s alliance in the 2022 general elections.
Marcos and Duterte are now political rivals, with the INC opposing the Vice President’s impeachment trial for betrayal of public trust and misuse of funds.
