LTO-7 impounds 21 illegal PUVs during five-day operations

CEBU, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 7 has intensified its campaign against unauthorized public utility vehicles (PUVs), resulting in the impoundment of 21 vehicles during enforcement operations conducted from July 16 to 21, 2026.

The operations were carried out by the Regional Law Enforcement Service–Field Enforcement Unit (RLES-FEU) under the directive of LTO-7 Regional Director Atty. Wendel C. Dinglasan.

In a statement, LTO-7 said its operations focused on colorum vehicles, taxis that overcharge, contracting, fare meter violations, and other unauthorized transport services in North Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City, and the South Road Properties (SRP).

With this development, Dinglasan assured that the agency remains committed to protecting commuters from illegal transport operators while supporting legitimate public transport services.

“While LTO Region 7 fully supports legitimate public transport operators, the agency will not hesitate to enforce the law against those who exploit commuters through illegal operations and abusive practices,” Dinglasan said.

He added that the agency’s anti-colorum campaign will continue to ensure safe, fair, and lawful transportation services for the riding public.

As of July 21, LTO-7 has impounded 21 illegally operating vehicles in July alone, with enforcement operations expected to continue across Central Visayas. — /IHM (FREEMAN)
