MANILA, Philippines -- Back-to-back gold medals for EJ Obiena.

The Filipino Olympic pole vaulter has tallied another gold medal win, this time in Austria, after ruling the Raiffeisen Austrian Open in Eisenstadt Thursday (Manila time).

Obiena cleared 5.75 meters in the victory, a few days after he snagged a gold at the Czeslaw Cybulski Memorial tournament in Poland.

The Filipino, ranked 14th in the world, finished ahead of Great Britain’s Owen Heard and Czechia’s Dan Barta, who both finished with 5.55 meters.

Obiena has had an up-and-down season thus far.

After almost three months of absence from action, he finished second in Dusseldorf on June 14th, before finishing eighth in Doha.

He then ended up fourth in the FBK Games on June 21 before topping the Polish tournament on June 28.
