Filing of charges vs Marcoleta to proceed — Ombudsman

MANILA, Philippines — The filing of plunder charges against Sen. Rodante Marcoleta will proceed despite the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) rally, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said.

In an ambush interview with reporters on Wednesday, July 1, Remulla said that no circumstances have changed even if the INC conducted its rally.

“Nothing has changed, we will file. Walang nagbago,” Remulla said in an ambush interview with reporters on Wednesday, July 1.

Remulla also denied the claims of the INC and Marcoleta’s supporters that the government practices selective justice.

“There is no selective justice in this country when it comes to the Ombudsman,” Remulla said.

Remulla previously revealed that plunder charges against Marcoleta will be filed this week.

The charges stem from the campaign donations he received during the 2025 elections.

In response, the INC held a surprise rally on June 30, which had no permit. As of writing, they are holding a rally that is expected to last until 9 p.m.
