Warning issued on fake OSAP execs soliciting financial aid

MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Special Assistant to the President has warned the public against groups and people engaged in fraudulent and unlawful activities who pose as OSAP representatives.

In an advisory, the OSAP led by Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr. cited reports about people and groups falsely claiming to be connected with it to solicit money or financial aid from local governments and the public.

“The Office of the Special Assistant to the President, its officials and staff, do not and will never, solicit funds, request for financial assistance or conduct official transactions through informal communication such as SMS or private messaging applications,” it said.

Local governments, their executives, officials and staff were advised to exercise caution and verify any funding or project-related directives claiming to originate from the OSAP by validating them only through established institutional channels.

The office also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious solicitations or communications to [email protected].
