Crossing pedestrian killed by motorcycle

CEBU, Philippines — A 30-year-old man died after being hit by a motorcycle while he was crossing the street in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City, before dawn yesterday, June 13.
The victim was identified as Jimmy Lumapac Jaducana, a resident of Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City.
According to the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office, the incident occurred at around 3:50 A.M. along F. Cabahug Street in front of Sarrosa Hotel in Barangay Kasambagan.
Investigation showed that Jaducana was crossing the road after leaving a convenience store when he was struck by a motorcycle driven by McVaughn Morata Polancos, 24.
Police said Polancos was traveling along F. Cabahug Street from the direction of Waterfront Lahug with his passenger Kaye Fernandez Estremos, 23, when the collision occurred.
The impact threw Jaducana to the pavement, causing severe head and body injuries.
Emergency responders rushed Jaducana to the Cebu City Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The rider and his passenger were also thrown from the motorcycle and sustained injuries.
Polancos is currently under the custody of the Traffic Enforcement Unit and is facing a charge for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. — (FREEMAN)
