MANILA, Philippines — A criminal complaint of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property has been filed against the driver of a 10-wheeler truck that caused the collapse of a section of the Kaliwet Bailey Bridge in Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur last month.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) filed the case against Philip Sabalo, who tried to drive the 20-ton truck along the structure in Barangay Nalasin on May 2. The bridge load limit is only five tons.

The DPWH asked the Land Transportation Office in Ilocos Sur to revoke Sabalo’s driver’s license, noting his actions inconvenienced the public.
