Ginebra guns for 2-0 lead in PBA Finals
CEBU, Philippines — The Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings are eyeing a 2-0 lead against the defending champions TNT Tropang Giga in the best-of-seven PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup Finals today (Friday, June 5) at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
Ginebra escaped TNT with a 102-100 win in the series opener two nights ago, thanks to the endgame heroics of Justin Brownlee.
With the score tied at 100-all, the decorated Ginebra import sank a fall-away jumper over TNT reinforcement Chris McCullough with six-tenths of a second left in the game clock to drag the Gin Kings to a thrilling victory.
Brownlee bagged 23 points with eight assists and four rebounds.
RJ Abarrientos topscored for Ginebra with 24 points on top of seven assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
Troy Rosario and Scottie Thompson also made a significant contribution for the Gin Kings with 31 points in between them.
McCullough led TNT with 25 points. RR Pogoy scored 22, Rey Nambatac tallied 19 markers while Brandon Ganuelas Rosser and Calvin Oftana produced 12 points each in a losing effort. — EBV
