DOJ, BOC, NBI combat smuggling bosses

MANILA, Philippines — Enhanced joint probes and airtight cases will be utilized by the government against masterminds behind smuggling operations.

The Bureau of Customs, Department of Justice and National Bureau of Investigation are coordinating to apprehend smuggling bosses and syndicates.

“We cannot do this alone. We need to work with other government agencies so we will not only hold accountable small-time players, but also big-time smugglers and smuggling syndicates that are behind these illegal activities,” Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said.

Stronger coordination will ensure that enforcement efforts yield tangible results in protecting government revenue, supporting lawful businesses and safeguarding the Filipino people’s interests, Nepomuceno said.
