Marcos smirks at Imee’s ‘no-el’
MANILA, Philippines — All it took was a smirk for President Marcos to send his message across after being told of his senator-sister’s allegation of a no-election scenario in 2028 that he was reportedly hatching along with minority senators.
“I wanted a no-election scenario?” Marcos replied with a smirk before boarding PR001 for Tokyo, Japan, when sought for comment on Sen. Imee Marcos’ privilege speech on Monday, wherein she accused him of orchestrating Charter change to prolong his stay in power.
First Lady Liza Marcos, standing alongside, smiled at her husband’s reaction. Marcos was departing for Japan for a four-day state visit.
Malacañang labeled the allegation as a diversionary tactic.
In a separate interview at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said Senator Marcos’ allegation was apparently intended to divert the public’s attention from real issues.
