VP’s husband sues Trillanes

MANILA, Philippines — Manases Carpio, the husband of Vice President Sara Duterte, is charging former senator Antonio Trillanes IV with perjury for lodging accusations about his family’s supposed ill-gotten wealth.
In an 11-page complaint filed before the Pasig prosecutor’s office, Carpio said that Trillanes’ April 21 sworn affidavit and April 22 testimony before the House justice committee contained “downright false, malicious, perjurious, defamatory and pure black propaganda.”
In the affidavit and testimony, Trillanes reiterated his claims first made during the height of the 2016 elections that the Duterte family, including Sara and Carpio, has secret bank accounts.
The former senator alleged that, as of April 2016, the now-vice president and her husband held P111,634,144.05 across all bank accounts linked to them.
Trillanes linked the money to alleged drug activities by Davao-based businessman Sammy Uy.
