MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos yesterday directed agencies to boost the support given to Filipino inventors, citing the need to protect their intellectual property rights, ensure their access to research grants and translate their ideas into startups.

Speaking at the National Invention Contest and Exhibits Awards at Malacañang, Marcos acknowledged the issues inventors have to hurdle, including lack of funds and limited access to modern technology.

Marcos said the real challenge lies in how inventions can be brought to the market so they can be useful to the public.

“I have given instructions to the Department of Science and Technology and all other relevant government agencies to strengthen financial and technical support for our inventors,” the President said.
