MANILA, Philippines — Three of the flood control cases concerning SYMS Construction Trading have been transferred to the Quezon City Court, Department of Justice spokesperson Polo Martinez said.

In a message to reporters on Wednesday, March 18, Martinez said that the three malversation cases against SYMS Construction Trading were originally filed in Bulacan courts.

However, following the Supreme Court administrative matter on handling flood control cases, the cases were transferred to the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Quezon City.

According to Martinez, the cases were filed on January 30, February 9 and February 13 in the Bulacan courts.

Two of the three cases will conduct their pre-trial hearings on April 3 at Quezon City RTC Branch 79.

The malversation case is over the alleged anomalous flood control projects, where former Department of Public Works and Highways assistant engineers Brice Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza and several others are involved.

Hernandez and Mendoza, along with several other individuals implicated in the flood control controversy, are currently being held at the New Quezon City Jail.

Meanwhile, SYMS contractor Sally Santos and former DPWH engineer Henry Alcantara have been excluded from the charge sheet after being admitted as state witnesses.
