MANILA, Philippines — Two “New Year babies” were born on Wednesday at the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila as the country welcomed the new year.

Sally Alburo, 25, of Carmona, Cavite, gave birth to a baby boy named Yuri at 12 a.m. yesterday.

After 10 seconds, another baby was born – a girl named Zamara.

The first-time mother, Jennilyn Dalen, 21, is from Naic, Cavite.

According to the doctor at Fabella Hospital, both babies were born through normal deliveries.

Alburo and Dalen wished for their newborns to grow up happy and healthy.

The child deliveries marked the hospital’s first recorded births of 2026.

In a television interview, Dr. Luis Legaspi, senior house officer of Fabella Hospital, said they saw a lower number of patients coming to the hospital this year.

“We are still hoping to have a lot of patients since there are still patients coming in right now even though it’s the new year,” Legaspi said.
