VP Sara ready to be president? Malacañang calls it ‘political destabilization’

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte saying that she is ready to be president is a political destabilization, according to the Palace on Wednesday, November 26.
The Marcos administration is facing its biggest corruption controversy, with some analysts seeing this as an opportunity for political players to seize power. One of the players who has signified a readiness to succeed Marcos is the vice president.
To which the Palace responded: is the public ready for more Mary Grace Piatos? Palace Press Officer Claire Castro alluded to Duterte’s own corruption scandal.
Castro said it was unacceptable for a vice president to anticipate the resignation of the president.
“This is definitely a form of political destabilization; she is weakening the public confidence of the people in the administration. And those words contribute to the climate of uncertainty and crisis,” Castro said in a mix of English and Filipino.
Castro said that Duterte’s anticipation alone was evidence that she was already making plans.
But is the president still ready to take control and lead the nation?
Malacañang said “of course.”
“Nakikita natin ang trabaho ng pangulo; araw-araw, hindi humihinto sa pagtatrabaho. Ni hindi nga po nakakapabakasyon at hindi nakakapunta sa beach para mag-swimming. So, sino po ba talaga ang ready na maging leader ng bansa? Walang iba kung hindi ang Pangulong Marcos Jr.,” Castro said.
(We see the president working every day, he does not stop working. He does not go on vacation to swim at the beach. So who really is ready to be the leader of the country? No one other than President Marcos Jr.)
