MANILA, Philippines — An Interpol Blue Notice has been issued for resigned lawmaker Zaldy Co.

This was confirmed by Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla during a press conference at Camp Crame on Monday, November 24.

According to Remulla, the government believes that Co may have traveled using another passport and possibly a different name when he left the country.

"The blue notice is out. Now that we have the arrest warrant, the red notice can be out. Then we can further determine kung nasaan talaga siya," Remulla said.

"Ang hula lang namin, reportedly, he has another passport that he is using," he added.

According to Interpol, a Blue Notice is issued to collect additional information regarding a person’s location and activities for an investigation.

On November 21, the Sandiganbayan issued a warrant of arrest against Zaldy Co. and 15 others over an alleged anomalous flood control project in Oriental Mindoro.

Co and the other accused face charges of violating Republic Act No. 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, as well as malversation of public funds through the falsification of public documents.

Of the individuals issued warrants, seven have already been arrested. On November 21, the anti-graft court rejected their motions to suspend their warrants of arrest.

Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities attempted to serve Co with his warrant at his home in Taguig on November 22. However, he has reportedly been out of the country since August 2025.

Co, along with officers of his construction company and high-ranking officials in the Department of Public Works and Highways, is accused of embezzling billions of pesos from flood control funds through a sophisticated kickback scheme.

While investigations continue into the alleged corruption, public concern remains high, with demonstrations being organized by religious and civic groups calling for accountability. — with reports from Jean Mangaluz.
